Henry helped model Andrea Sisson’s latest line of wearable instruments…everything looked and sounded great. These nice snaps were taken by Eamon Queeney for CityBeat.

We will be working on some new material in June and then resurfacing July 11th for The Forecastle Festival in Louisville,KY. July 16th we will be playing with You, You’re Awesome on Fountain Square in Cincinnati,OH as part of the Midpoint Indie Summer series.

Saturday, May 29 we will be playing a free show at The Northside Tavern (Cincinnati,OH) with Coltrane Motion, Eat Sugar and Plastic Ants. (9pm)
We rolled in to Louisville,KY on Saturday night at about 8:30. The bar we were playing was called The Monkeywrench.

It had somewhat of an island theme. When we checked out the stage there was a giant tiki bar in the middle of it. I asked the door guy what the deal was with the tiki bar and he said the DJ’s use it as a stand for their turntables.

We cleared the stage and made room for our set up.

Before the show started we hung out on the “Island in The Highlands” which is the roof of The Monkeywrench. It was such a nice night and they had some really great surfing on TV, neon lights, heaters at the bar and bar stools. Sean from the blog Buzzgrinder and Andrew from Ultra Pulverize eventually joined us and had a beer. Some of my favorite memories on tour are the times when we are hanging out and talking with good people in a good atmosphere. Every place we have stopped has had these moments.

The band we played with, Ultra Pulverize, have an amazing thing going on. They have a great live show visually, they have a great sense of humor on stage and they have an amazing sound. The drummer/bass player plays the drums and bass by hand on a sampler and drum machine. There are no backing tracks…it flips your lid. The keyboardist designs each keyboard sound on stage with a giant self made manual. The lead singer raps faster than Twista.
On a side note, if you ever figure out who these guys are in the crowd (they are in costume on stage), go up and talk to them. They are some of the nicest dudes out there.

Music is like any other art medium. You start with an idea and then you start adding…instruments…band members… schedules…sound reinforcement…vehicles…practice space…stuff breaks…fix it…breaks again…book shows…promotion…sound isn’t quite right on stage…bad reviews/good reviews…load in/load out…$$$…Cops are called…show is shut down…etc…
It is an honor to be a part of such a long standing tradition: the rock and roll band.
The 3:00 am drive down a dark highway…that picture is for my colleagues in the music biz.
May the road treat you well.
